IMPORTANT – Checks on Agency Workers

Dear Care Provider

Through our engagement with care services (in West Sussex) we are aware of a growing reliance on agency workers, mainly due to difficulties in recruiting directly employed staff.

What we have also been hearing is that sometimes workers may not have had certain checks undertaken against them or are not as experienced as their agency profile may have indicated. Workers deployed in and around your business are your responsibility, on this basis please can we remind you to check that all staff, agency or otherwise, have the relevant competencies and skills to undertake the role and are legally entitled to work in the UK.
