Rosemary started her career in health & social care at 18 when she was appointed as an Assistant Home Help Organiser in the East End of London. Rosemary then worked at Mayday Hospital for 10 years before joining East Sussex County Council as a Home Help Organiser and subsequently Community Service Manager.
In 1998 Rosemary took early retirement from what was then Brighton & Hove unitary authority and bought a care home in Horsham. As a result of what Rosemary perceived as a lack of understanding and support for the independent care sector she negotiated the implementation of what proved to be the highly successful Care Training Consortium. Rosemary was a founder member of West Sussex Forum.

Tom worked as a hospital doctor for 10 years before taking the opportunity to buy Sussex Grange Care Home in 2003. Tom now works full-time as the proprietor of the care home and the associated domiciliary care agency which he set up in 2008.
As a provider of both residential and domiciliary care Tom has a valuable insight into the different needs and demands affecting each sector.
In addition to being a co-opted board member, Tom is also Deputy Chair of the West Sussex Partners in Care Training Sub-group and a member of the West Sussex Partners in Care Domiciliary Care Strategy that liaises with West Sussex County Council on behalf of the sector.
Martin has worked at Aldingbourne Trust since 2010. Having worked previously as National Training Manager at Signet UK, he is the Trust’s Head of Human Resources.
The Aldingbourne Trust is an enterprising and award winning charity that enables people with learning disabilities to live independently and have the same opportunities as everyone else. Aldingbourne Trust is serious about social enterprise because it provides new opportunities for learning, being part of and supporting local communities and reduces reliance on government funding.
Working with partners in the care sector including the Charity Learning Consortium and West Sussex County Council’s Learning and Development Team, Martin has enabled the trust to win awards for it’s learning and development provision and attain the prestigious Investors in People Gold Standard.
Martin has recently completed a Masters Degree in HR Management specialising in Care Sector recruitment to further his ability to deliver best practice workforce development.

Tim joined the care sector in 2010 via the acquisition of the Carewatch franchise from his father. Tim has played an active role in West Sussex Forum since 2011 and sits on the Domiciliary Care Strategy Board with West Sussex County Council.
Tim's background is in media and technology and has worked on telecare products and home monitoring systems designed for home care. Tim has also managed the studio builds for YouTube and Google in London and Europe.
Tim believes there is a need for technology in the care sector to assist both the workforce and the customers they serve. By combining a desire to work in the care sector with his experience in technology Tim enjoys the best of both worlds and hopes in the process to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people.
Lou is Managing Director of Melrose Care Ltd – a 26 bedded nursing home and domiciliary care agency in Worthing. Lou bought Melrose nearly 10 years ago, when BUPA sold out its hospitals to a VCT. It has grown in capacity and reputation over the years; was the only nursing home in the area to be awarded the top three star rating by CQC and has gained accreditation to Beacon Status in the Gold Standards Framework for end of life care.
Previously Lou was part of a task force seconded in to ‘turn around’ a failing Hospital trust on the South Coast, after which she joined BUPA as general manager of a private hospital in Surrey; taking on full p&l and governance responsibilities for the hospital which had an £10 million annual turnover.
Lou is passionate about creating a community, which gives meaning and purpose to the elderly clients who live there.

Asim Chaudhary has been in the care sector since 2008 when he purchased Amberley Lodge nursing home and Willett Lodge nursing home in Worthing. Willett Lodge was a residential home, which Asim changed to a Dementia Nursing home. He has also achieved a very good reputation for both his homes.
Prior to this Asim worked in his family business, which he helped establish and grow in the UK and abroad.
Asim qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1999. His key area of interest was to help small and medium sized companies reduce their costs without compromising on quality, resulting in improved profitability and performance.
Being in the care sector, Asim appreciates the pressures faced on a daily basis. Asim strongly believes quality personalised care is linked to the long term performance and success of any care business.

Sharon has worked with people with learning disabilities for nearly 30 years. A qualified learning disability nurse, she has worked in the private sector and the NHS in a variety of roles, including monitoring services for people with learning disabilities living in out-of-county placements and responsibility for regional directly provided services. Sharon joined Southdown in 2001 as an Area Manager and has been the Director of Operations since 2012. Southdown was established in 1972 and is one of the largest not-for-profit specialist providers of care, support and housing services for vulnerable people in Sussex.
Sharon is committed to person centred working and ensuring that increasing the choice and control of the people we support is at the heart of all interactions, reducing the need for people to resort to behaviour that could be considered challenging in order to get their needs met.
